Christopher Denn
WD Schock Corporation was the original owner and builder of the Schock Dory Lifeguard Boat.
Decades ago, WD Schock discontinued building the Dory and sold the rights, molds, and temples to Al Pearson of California.
Al Pearson started building with adding adaptations by removing the bench seats and went with a platform seat system. This surf boat was the dominate boat used in the United States Lifeguard Association rowing race events.
Decades went by and Al Pearson retired from building the boat and sold boat rights to Rocky Lenning. Mr. Lenning held the molds in Southern California for three years while producing a single boat before he was approached by Christopher Denn, owner of the company Oar House Products & Asay Surf Boats.
Oar House Products was mainly established by Chris Denn to supply the NJ shore lifeguard beach patrols oars for their VanDuyne Surf Boats since 2008.
Christopher & Summer Denn are a small family business located in Southern NJ. With the oar business fulfilling a need for lifeguard oars, Chris Denn had the opportunity to purchase the rights to the dominate “Asay” boats from the creator, Bob Asay.
This set-in motion a new business model to build and provide the equipment and boats for the Asay 17’ lifeguard boat as well as the Asay 19’ self-bailer VanDuyne and Schock Dory.
By adding the now newly named “Pacific Schock Dory to their building opportunity, Oar House Products is building the Schock Dory just as it was built by WD Schock. Chris Denn’s business model is to continue building all the historical lifeguard boats for Beach Patrols around the nation. Chris Denn notes these boats remain in high demand due to their impeccable craftmanship.
Oar House Products oars and boats are hand-made with modern material with a bit of historical culture added. Chris Denn encourages any lifeguard interested in viewing the finest boats on the market to check out the latest innovations from Oar House Products. Christopher Denn and his team are committed to providing lifeguards with the boats they require to do their job in the harshest ocean conditions.
